Loimu’s Christmas donation to Save the Children Finland’s domestic work

With our €400 Christmas donation, we aim to prevent social exclusion and help low-income families in Finland.

Currently, about 120,000 children in Finland live in low-income families, and this number is expected to increase by nearly 17,000 children. The number of children living in poverty threatens to grow larger than it has been in decades. At the same time, the plight of poor families deepens. More and more children report that they even lack food.

According to preliminary results from Save the Children Finland’s 2024 Child’s Voice survey, there is also more concern about the future than before. Preliminary results indicate that 90% of children from low-income families find it difficult to cover all family expenses, and 19% of children from low-income families feel that there is not enough food at home.

Through Save the Children Finland’s Christmas campaign, food vouchers, as well as support for hobbies and learning materials, are distributed to low-income families. Additionally, children are provided with support persons, foster families, and low-threshold online counseling for young people.

Furthermore, families in difficult life situations are supported with early intervention services, such as support persons, godparent homes, and sports mentors.

Instead of sending Christmas cards to our partners, we have donated the money reserved for Christmas cards to charity – this year, we are donating to Save the Children Finland’s domestic work.

We wish all our members and partners a warm Christmas spirit!
